Approval for NutrinovaŽ DHA in Australia and New Zealand | ||
Nutrinova® DHA, an oil rich in the omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) from international food ingredients supplier, Nutrinova GmbH, has now been approved as novel food by the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ). Nutrinova® DHA can be incorporated into any food categories without dosage limitations. Nutrinova® DHA is derived from the marine microalgae Ulkenia sp. It contains at least 43% DHA (of the total fatty acids), has many advantages over typical fish oils and is suitable for consumers following a vegetarian or vegan diet. Nutrinova® DHA can be used to enrich food products such as spreads, dairy products and analogues, breakfast cereals, baked goods, nutrition bars, and beverages. Nutrinova® DHA is already approved in the US, the EU and various other countries and successfully introduced for example in dietary supplements, spreads and bread.
