Cellulose acetate tow is clean, soft, odorless, tasteless, and
safe. Derived from
highly purified wood pulp from re-forested trees, it is a "natural" and "environmentally
friendly" product. Its uniformity is globally recognized on some of the most demanding high-speed
production equipment in use today for processing crimped tow.
Celanese Acetate
brings more than 40 years of experience to acetate tow production. Throughout the years, we have set
the highest standards of quality so that you get the most uniform products available which will run
efficiently on any equipment designed to open and convert acetate tow into your products.
Our
Commitment to Advancing Technology
Celanese
is committed to technology developments aimed at improving the use of our products. In fact, we have
a long history of advancing technology and creating technical tools to help our customers process our
products, improve quality and reduce cost. Here are a few of the developments which have resulted in
advancing the technology of the industries we serve and supply.
- The
Dual Threaded Roll Tow Opening System was developed and patented by Celanese Acetate to provide a means
to open tow with maximum uniformity for a wide range of product properties. The dual threaded roll tow
opening system is the most used method for opening tow worldwide.
- Celanese Acetate
engineers developed and patented a transport jet and promoted the concept of range extension, enabling
multiple products to be made with one tow item in different applications.
- In cooperation
with Hauni, a company of Körber AG, Celanese Acetate engineered a unique plasticizer controller system,
which provides a major improvement through the reduction of plasticizer variability on acetate tow.
- Engineers
at Celanese Acetate have developed and patented an air forming jet to produce webs for absorbent hygiene
products. Continued development in absorbent hygiene products has led to the development of a unique
and efficient process for the application of superabsorbent polymer (SAP) or other solid materials to
tow as part of an absorbent core forming process.
Our Research
and Development Capabilities
In addition to helping you select acetate
tow materials and develop tow processes for your products, we may be able to assist you in other ways.
Examples of our research and development capabilities include:
